Day of Baking! Tres Leches (Three milks) cupcakes!

Hello all! I thought I'd share with you one of the highlights of my week with you! This one took place in our kitchen! I was able to make cupcakes! I had seen the recipe done on TV, and thought it looked quite exquisite! So, I found the recipe online and decided to tackle it! (at least the 3 milks part and the icing part!) The fun thing about this recipe is that it called for coconut milk! It is actually quite tasty and I thought fun to work with!

The Recipe!

Here they are right before I put them in the oven!

This is them after they were baked! YUMMO!

Then! (drum role!) Here they are after the 3 milks were put into the cake and then frosted!

The Hair Cut

A young boy had just gotten his driver's permit and inquired of his father, if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son. "You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, get your hair cut and we'll talk about the car." The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, "Son, I've been real proud. You brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm real disappointed you haven't gotten your hair cut."

The young man paused a moment then said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there's even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair."

To this his father replied, "Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"

Of Sewing and drawings!

A beautiful bag my friend olivia sewed. Her site is called All That is Good.
Hello Ya'll! I thought I'd make another post. Two fold. ;) 1. becuase I want to be intered in this drawing that Oliva is hosting!(BTW, if your looking for a cool place to park your eyes for awhile, you'll be astounded at all the things this family can do. They are quite inspiring!) 2. I do have a few things I would like to say as well!

First.....I went to the library today and picked up a Lotta Jansdotter book that I requested. It is the neatest thing. Last summer when I was at camp, Martha V. had some really cute bags that she had made out of a pattern from this book. Well....when I started looking at the book, I realized that they had some really niftly ideas, one of which is a duvet cover, which I am really interested in making! So, we shall see what comes of me finding this great book!

The Day of the Gavel

Well, I'm sure your curiousity is peaked, the day of the gavel might be making you wonder if I have left me civilized and refined law abiding was to be a criminal. Well, gladly, the answer is no! Though if you would have seen me on Monday mourning, you may have begun to question me!
My story begins approx. three months ago when one night at dusk I was making my way to my brother and sister-in-laws apartment which is just across the river. As I got onto the on ramp of the freeway, I noticed that there was a line of cars inching alon over the bridge, obviously an accident had occured, which isn't to uncommon, especially on the Blue Bridge. Anyways....as I was speeding up, I suddently realized that a car was just sitting in the middle of the onramp before I realized it, I slamed on my brakes and slid to a halt, my car now sitting at an angel to his car. Then all of a sudden, he started backing up, and me not even thinking about using the horn just sat wide eyed as he backed into to passenger side of my car. (You may think it weird that it was the side of my car, but because I slamed on my brakes, I was sitting crooked in the road.) Anyways... the area I live in is highly populated by hispanics, some who can speak English, and others who cant. Well, this man couldn't so his grandaughter became the translator. Nothing really was said between the two of us, which is good.
Anyways...I immedietly called my dad, (in retrospect I shold have just called the police first) whi decided that it be best for him to come to the scene of the accident. During the time, a youg man stopped to see if he could help. He proceeded to take some pictures with his phone while I called the police. When the police lady arrived, I told her my side of the accident and I think he told her his. After going back to her car and doing whatever they do in there, she came out and told me I could proceed across the bridge. (Ugh....now I had to face a whole line of traffic because of two other accidents that had happened)
Well, anyways. About a month or so ago, possibly longer, a police officer came to the door of our house with a piece of paper stating that I had been supeonad (sp) to court. So, in court this last monday I had to appear in court. I was quite nervous. My mother graciously meet me there. What a relief. While I was waiting my turn to be called up, we were able to watch everyone else who had a court date that day be given their sentence by the judge. Most of them were speeding tickets, men-women abuse issues, as well as substance abbuse issues. Also, the really interesting thing was that there was a whole line of jail convicts who were sitting there all shackled and waiting for their turn. Of course my trila was last, but ahh well.
Anyways, I was sworn in and then placed on the witness stand where I proceeded to tell the court what had taken place on that fateful night. Then the hispanic man was given a chance to ask me questions. Because of the language barrier, he was given an interpreter. Instead of asking me questions though he started blaming me for running into him. The judge was quite frustrated as this was infringment on was he was supposed to do, which was ask me question. So, after about 20 times of the judge asking him to JUST ask questions and him not obeying. She finally told him that if he wanted to push his case he would have to higher a lawyer and take me to the next court up some other time.
So, Lord willing that wont happen. Hopefully he will just realize thatit was his fault and give up.
But I must say, it was a rather interesting experience, and one not very many people get to experience themselves.

So, there's my story of the week! I hope you enjoyed it!

Month in Review

Hello Everyone!
I have been very remiss in not posting on my site. I feel quite bad as I have been reprimanded! (In a loving way) by a certain someone! So, I shall try and do better. I'll just blame it on my lazy bone!

So..this last month hasn't been very busy. Mostly just school, working quite hard at my math class which I ablolutly, without a feeling of love in any single one of my bones, ardently dislike! I am by no means math minded!

One of the biggest things that took place this month was the death of our Dog, Casey. He became so ill with his hip dysplasia as well as other things, that we had no choice but to put him down, it would have been cruel to make him go on. That was quite hard, though I am glad we had him for the few short years we did!

Casey

Also, we were blessed with a visit by my brother and his wife! It is so amazing to watch toddlers grow, especially when you dont see them for weeks at a time and then viola! They aren't baby's any more! Katelyn's new thing is to put Papa's shoes on. It is so adorable! Here she is with my dad's (papa's) shoes!

My job as a nanny has gotten quite a bit better as well! Praise the Lord. The kids seem to be maturing in obedience and respect. Though, as children always will, they have their moments! And I'm sure I have mine! It has been so nice outside that we have been enjoying the weather by playing outside! It's so refershing! Here are some pictures I took during a Saturday I had them all day.

Rachel Playing on her beloved monkey bars!

Leah, Rachel, and I taking a group picture! Adorable aren't they!

Josepth agreeing to smile for the camera on therms that he gets to take a picture of me afterward!

In the last week it has been amazing the conversations God has brought about. I have been able to talk to this one young man in one of my classes about some interesting topics related to movies. I hope I was able to clear up some things. I find it amazing how much people get Catholocism mixed up with ture Christianity, or Portestantism. Quite sad, we have way to undereducated of a world in spiritual matters. The second opportunity was with my beautician who was asking me what I thought the bible said concerning certain issues. I the invited her to our church...so be in prayer for her. She is a very mixed up yound lady who has no spiritual direction in her life.

Also, in June I will be attending a converence in California called the Resolved Conference! I am very excited about it. I am sure it will be a very spiritually enriching time. Because of this, I will not be able to attend Joni camp this summer. (though possibily the third week....if God wills it) My dad desires me to go to this conference, so, in joyful submission, I think that is the direction God is leading. Also, my friend who's wedding in in decided that she would have her wedding on July 6th. So, it would be a tight squeeze to do both anyways.

I miss all you guys, and am so grateful you are my friends!

Love in Christ
Laura
